  1. The main idea of "taking assesment on Computers Offers More 'Student friendly'option" is the following. The main idea is in Basehordlinwood School District, the students are going to take state tests on computers. The main idea of " A D-Minus for Computer Exams" is the following. The main idea is to remove the ability of test taking on computers.
Test-taking on computers have a couple of advantages. One of them is kids like this new testing mode. Another one is "it puts the tests into a format (students) are used to".-Bill Hatfield. But this is not as easy as it sounds, some disavantages were found in this new test taking ability. One of them were that is not secured. Another is that is susceptible to scoring errors. This was proven by the Graduate Record Examination(GRE).
Some of my concerns about this test taking ability on computers are the following. First of all the security part, i wouldnt want to take a test if is not secured. Another concern is that they might grade it wrong and i dont want to fail a test due to a tech problems. But on the other hand, what i like about it is that i get to take a test using what i love most besides girls, computers. Also i dont have to waste my energy writing. In conclusion i would like this to be accepted in all states.

  2. The Main Idea Of “Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Option” is that they think students pass better using computers than paper and pencil. The main idea of “A D-Minus for Computer Exams” is that students are going from pencil and paper again because they have finded out that students been cheating on thier tests. The advantages of taking tests online is that they are getting the answers from the net to get the right answers. My Opinion is that doing this is terrible because what if the answers weren't right ? they would of failed the test But,there are the ones who are not learning nothing they are cheating and i ask myself what they going to learn ?..nothing!..The disadvantages of taking tests online is that in pencil and paper you don't get to search up the answers you do the test when the knowlage you know.

  3. Well i disagree with my fellow peer Olenis in a way, but also agree this is due to the following. I disagree because test taking online is way for students to see test taking more interesting and enjoyable. Its a way to put tests in a way that we the students are used too, and that's ofcourse by technology. However i agree because it is terrible for spreading the ability of test taking online with no security. What if the student taking the test decides to open a tab and "google" the question he doesnt understand? That would be an issue of integrity and last time i checked not everyone is built up with 100% integrity. To sum up i think test taking online shouldnt be approved in all states until it has been revised, and checked for secutiry.

  4. Its a shame is Sunday and only 2 students from my class have bloged. This tells me something about the 8th grade and their responsibility with work.:(

  5. I have to agree with Oscar. I am a little surprised that more students have not posted to the blog. I used to wait to the last minute to complete my assignments. Last semester I had a terrible habit of waiting until the night before a paper was due (for my Graduate class) to complete it and it would totally STRESS ME OUT! When it came time to set goals for Q2, my academic goal was to not wait until the night before to complete my homework. The 7th and 8th grade students were really great with Brother's Keeper and would always ask me "Ms. Moloughney did you do your homework?" So if you are like Ms. Moloughney was last semester, ask someone for help to remind you or ask you "Did you do your homework?" Knowing that students were holding me accountable really motivated me to get my work done. I also had a lot less stress when it came to my school work!

  6. i kind of agree with oscar because like he said some students are used to takin tests online but the thing is that they are cheating so i kind of disgree with him a little.

The main idea of "Taking Assessment test on Computers Offers More student freindly Option" is that taking assessments on computers is better than writing with a pen|pencil on paper.
The main idea of "A D-Minus for Computer exams" is believing the oppisite of the first atricle, that using computers is not efficient all over the world. ( china, korea, taiwan )
The advantages of taking test online is that it's faster and students have been doing better.
Disadvantages is that the computer can have technical difficulties making errors.
My concerns about taking test on the computer is that students can cheat more and computers can have a break down messing up your test.
But i like the fact about taking test on computers is it's like making a change in the way schools do stuff.
I disagree with onlenis, usually if we're taking a test i doubt we'll be able to go on the net to search answers.

  8. 1) What is the main idea of the “Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Option” article?

1a) The Main Idea Of “Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Option” is that kid are taking tests on computer and they find in a way that student pass with a higher grade using computer then using pencil and paper.

    2) What is the main idea of the “A D-Minus for Computer Exams”?

2A) The main idea of A “D-Minus for Computer Exam “ is that they find out student taking tests on computer tent to lead into cheating. So there going back to using pencil and paper.

    3) What are the advantages of taking tests online?

3A) Some advantages are that “kids like the computerized testing mode”-(Bill Hatfield, “Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Option”), which means that student tent to feel comfortable taking tests on the computer which also mean they feel so comfortable that they can search the wed for answer in a sneaky way or cheat on other around them if computers are close enough to each other. While taking tests on pencils and paper kids are more far apart and have no reliability around them.

    4) What are the disadvantages of taking tests online?

4A) There are some disadvantage of taking tests online and that is when scoring tests the computer might make some error. For example if a student has every question answer right but the computer score the test wrong and fail the student, that not fair. Well that susceptible to scoring errors.

    5) What are some of your concerns about taking tests on the computer? What do you like about it?

5A) One concern is to have at least 2 to 3 teacher in the room at all time while testing on computer because cheating can happen and the student will be in a lot of trouble if they do so. What I like about testing on computer is that it enjoyable not boring to take a test. Another thing I like about having 2 to 3 teacher is that it makes student take testes fairly and not able to cheat.

  9. I like to agree with Oscar and Olenis. The reason why I agree with Oscar is that 1. no one has 100% integrity and 2. that when I take tests, by the time I’m half way done I feel tried and out of energy and just lack of and start wasting times. I said that I agree with olenis because she said "The disadvantages of taking tests online is that in pencil and paper you don't get to search up the answers you do the test when the knowledge you know." because if you have access to a computer you are access to the wed. but if you’re doing tests by pencil and paper there really no reability to help you but what you know.

  11. The main idea for "Taking Assessment Test On Computer Offers More Student Friendly Option" is that taking assessments online has more convenient options. The main idea of "A D-Minus For Computer Exams" is that computers are having technical malfunctions with the scoring. The disadvantages on taking tests online are that cheating is more accessible, the "black screen of death", and wrong scoring. The advantages on taking online tests is that you wont need any paper or pencils. A concern that I have on taking tests online is that students can cheat easily. What I like about it is that I don't need to write anything.

  12. The main idea for "A D-Minus for Computer Exams" is that taking tests online can be helpful in certain ways but once you get the hang of it, it can sometimes fail on you. The main idea for "Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More 'Student Friendly' Option" is that computers are more comfortable for the student that is taking the test. Also that they are familiar with computers so it will work nicely for them. The advantages of takings tests online is that you can stop&save your test if you cant continue and resume it later on. The disadvantages of taking tests online is that students can easily cheat if they are next to each other, also that if you wish to resume the test later you can study even more which can be unfair to some people. The only thing that i like about it is that it is more easier than tiring your hand.

  13. I agree with Olenis about disagreeing with Oscar because any student can cheat easily if they are next to another student.

  14. I agree with Jonathon because just like in the articles there can be errors while taking a test online.

  15. The main idea of “Taking Assessment Tests on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Options” article is that they think taking test on a computer might make more students pass….
The main idea for “A D-Minus for computers Exams” is that they are using Paper and pencil again to take exams because the risks are higher for students to cheat and for there to be malfunctions on scoring the tests.
Some advantages of taking tests online is that students see it as more enjoyable and puts the test into a format that students are used to. It is also considered to be more “student friendly’.
Some disadvantages of taking test online is that there might be a lot of mistakes being done for scoring tests like “two years ago, a computer glitch on the GMAT damaged thousands of business school applicants’ score.” It can also make it more possible for students to cheat on their exams
Some of my concerns about test taking online is the possibility of losing the hard work students put into their test answer because of a computer glitch. However it might also be helpful to some students that would like to try something new.

  16. i agree with what Andrea said...she likes the fact she doesnt have to write anything if its a test online just like i wouldnt like to write anything.

    ReplyDelete
  17. well, first off there shouldn't be any cheating going on in the first place even if it is on the computer it say that they had found that test scores increased each time a computer based version of the test was replenished with a new pool of questions. i think you cant blame computer based testing because there is some kind of security breaches.the main ideas of this article is how student cheat on the test when they are computer but when it is written test they have a lower grade the main idea of taking assessment test on computer...... is about how student are taking test by hand written and taking test on computer versus pencil and paper and how it makes it a little more "student friendly".the advantage taken online is that people can look are other students screens and copying off of them and an disadvantage is that students are not using there own minds to do there test on there own i agree with Oscar and Andrea when Oscar had said "But this is not as easy as it sounds, some disadvantages were found in this new test taking ability. One of them were that is not secured" and when Andrea said " The disadvantages on taking tests online are that cheating is more accessible, the "black screen of death", and wrong scoring."

  18. Well, on my opinion of this such thing of "taking tests on online" is great. Reason wny is becasue students have a great advantage to take part of the modern day world by using technology. But aside from the greatness that this idea comes from... theres also a great responsibility from the student. Something that we all shall plunder on is "cheating". Cheating comes in my ways, by in this way... its serious. Many students across the nation get either suspended or exspelled from cheating, and thats the only disadvantage from taking tests online. The way to make sure that the student is not cheating is by either...
    1) Seperating the students
    2) Give each student a different test but with the same questions in a different order
    or...
    4) Take the test, the old fashion way...by filling in dots by hand and writing out short answer questions.
But still, let this rejoice amongs the many students who love taking tests on the computer.

    Stay cool

The main idea of taking assesments tests on computers. Is giving middle & highschool students a chance to take tests on computers so the district could see where students are & how much they know. Also the district is trying to see where students perform at & there policy no child left behind.
The main idea of a-d minus of computers exam is they think with using|as in pen & paper came out the chinese|scores from china;the educational testing service launch questions from live versions of the computer has increased each time a new pool of questions. They think using pen & paper is better so students won't cheat & higher rates on tests.
The advantages of taking test online is giving students;middle & highschool students a oppurtunity to see how they can interact with it.Also to tell & view the students grades & to see where they are.
The disadvantages of taking test online is seeing that students are use to pencil & paper ;but that it can develop ccomprehension;in core subjects such as math reading & science.
Lastly some of my concerns are;are students going to use this as a oppurtunity & not a easy way out?.Also something i like is it feel as if were in college & feel a little more like adults & more fun.As well a good oppurtunity.
Finally i agree with katherine beacuse me & her said the same thing as the a-d minus people think pen & paer is better & it might be helpful for students to try something new.

  22. The main idea of "Taking assesment test on computers offer more student friendly option" Is , results that are given back to teachers and adminstrators are saying that students give a better performance on important assesment test when they take them on a computer. The main idea of " A D-Minus for computer fans" Is that taking test on line can have many difficulties. According to " Taking assesment test on computers offer more student friendly options" In advantage of taking test online is that you get a better grade because you give a better performance. According to " A D-Minus for computer exams". A disadvantage of taking a test online is that sometimes test are not graded correctly, or they are security breaches. I believe we should take test with good old pen and paper unless the errors are online test taking are fixed.

  23. In the article “Taking Assessment Test on Computers Offers More ‘Student Friendly’ Option” it talks about different points of view of students taking assessments on the computer. Also, how important the test scores are to the school districts. In the article “A D-Minus for Computer Exams” it talks about how they want to go back to taking assessment with paper and pencil instead of on the computers. For computerized testing the same pool of items is used for two or three months, this is a lot of time to memorize the test and the answers. Advantages of taking test online are students are more likely to cheat, or look at the notes or books while taking the test. Also it is easy for administrators to grade. Students will understand how to operate the site. Disadvantages of taking test online are if students don’t have access to a computer they will not be able to complete the assessment. There could be miscalculations when grading the assessments.

  31. The main idea for A D-minus for computer exam is about how it is better to take exam on pencils then on computers.
The article Taking assessment tests on computers offers more'student friendly' option is about how it is better to use computers to take test and how the students performances increases. The diadvantages of taking test online is that the computer can shut off and you can lose your test information. An advantage from taking test on the computer is that you do not have to be asking for pencils or a new test scantron. Some of my concerns for taking test online is that students can have other sites open to cheat on the test, also that people can take test at home. What i like about taking test online is that we do not have to waste our time writing on the test or asking for a new pencil to write with.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The problem with A-D minus is for testing to see if taking the math, reading, and sicence skills will help them do good and work hard for thier grades. They belived that it is more easier to do it on a computer then do it on a piece of paper and a pencil.that the test should be fare and that it so they would not cheat of each other. They wanted to see if the the kids would do better if they take the test on the computer. It helps them do good.

  33. The main idea of the "taking assessment test on computer.s" is about students doing better on test, on the internet. The "AD-minus for computer exams" prefer the traditional pecil paper taking exam. the advantages of taking test online is that students are more used to the web. Some diadvantages are that they might not take the test as serious as they would a paper test also the computer does corrections for spelling so you can't really know if they can write or not. I like that you type and makes our typing skills better.

  34. I agree with oscar because if the test is not secured people can look at your test and copy off of you and also if their is a technical problem they might grade the test wrong.
