I think that texting language is not bad for kids to learn. They should also be tought to know when to & not to use texting langague. I also think that it depends on who the person(s) are talking to. To me I think that its important for us to use texting langauge; because its good to not ALWAYS use perfect langague.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about this passage is that many people do love to text more than half of the day texting to people. In some kind of way i think its good to communicate but not assesively.
ReplyDeletethe way it does have an great impact is if they bring there phone to school thats a diffrent story.
In some point i think i did because if you write fast you might write something that dosent goes there.
I think that the texting language is important to keep because it keeps the users able to express themselves through IM and E-MAIL. But however I do agree that only friends among each other should only talk like that with each other. So that means that students should type properly when talking to teachers or professors.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with the people who say that text words makes kids and teens lose their writeing skills. I disagree because I use text words all the time on aim and on e-mails and ect. Even if I have used text words I have gotten better at writeing and I have gotten better with reading. LETTS GOOOO TEXTING LOL!!

ReplyDeleteWhat I thought about the digital etiquette language article is. I thought it was very supporting to us students because it can help us have a better understanding on how to chat; text; & write to one another. Also it was helpful because it gave us words that I actually didn’t know as troll (well I knew the word but didn’t know how it could be used in texting). Also flame wear as well I just thought those two words were like words that are helpful for me. Lastly this article was very supporting & I learned some supporting texting strategies.
1. i think it great
ReplyDelete2.yes because i sometimes use texting languesge in school work
3.yes i have used texting in inappropriate
Texting language is really important because you can send out important message to inform other, to tell a joke, or have a descent conversation, you cant have a descent conversation and you used all caps you are really tell the person that you are scream or yelling at them out of no where.
ReplyDeleteYes it does have an influence on student learning the reason why is because today student or used to writing word with out really writing it, what I mean is for example later most student write L8 to spell later short and faster.
Yes I have used texting language in a inappropriate setting , like I have describe on the question before this I use the letter b and the number 4 to say b4 on writing exam and then re read what I wrote to find my mistake is a very bad habit.
well; i think that its good and bad the reason why i say that is because most students are used to writing in short testing, IMing style but, then again its bad for the students to write like that on assignments i think student only do this because they are used too writing like that. I feel that the teacherrs and parnets should have some type of concern because if they child is writing like that on there assignments imgine them writing stuff like that on there jobs appilcations. in some way it is a bad habit but you just need to learn how to stop....
ReplyDeleteI think that is a faster way of writing for kids and is more easy. I also think that is not to good to use it a lot because then kid are going to take it everywhere they go. When in school and when they are talking to teachers. It would turn to a habit.
ReplyDeletein my opinion i think that texting or iming is good because i think we and as in we i mean the students that text or iming because we can talk faster and also talk the way we want but in some situations there have been mistakes in kids, teens written assighnments because they would use smily faces and sad faces and also "lols" in there sentences.......i rest my case.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i feel that texting language is not a bad thing because it gives students|kids to be diversed with their writing. Also when conversating with someone, no one wants to be writing essays so you'd wanna shorten up the words. I do belive that is do effect students learning though cause personally i have used the words that i'd say on aim or something in my work . It's just so natural and common for me to use !
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that texting language helps students write less and make things more obvious to see.I think it does because students might connect to something in a book about it. I have never used them on a test because there not the approiate manner."But on the other hand, at least one study has shown that kids who use such texting language do not have poorer written language skills." "in fact they were actually better readers and writers then kids who dont use the abbreviations.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I think that it depends on how much a kid does it everyday because if a kid texts often his or her spelling skills will decrease. Yes I do think that texting does pay a part on a kids learning because kids will get used to texting and use it in school which will decrease. There was one time that I used texting in an inappropriate setting was when we had to do a do now and I wrote you with only a U and I didn’t realize the mistake until the teacher corrected it.
ReplyDeleteI believe that texting does have an effect on written language writing skills. But not a huge effect as teachers may believe. If acronyms and abbreviations appear in and essays or written applications then it is because people are used to writing that way. If you do happen to make a slip in the paper you can easily correct the problem by checking over your work.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that "texting language" is bad for kids because it's an easier way to write things without having to write everything correctly. I also think that it's pretty dumb for a student to be using "texting language" for school work. I think they should only use it when they're talking to friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think about texting language is that Texting could be good and bad...For example, if people write in CAPS the person you are talking is going to think that you're screaming at them or you mad at them... But texting is also, good because you could keep in contact with someone. I think that it has an influence on a students learing because sometimes, students could be writting an anggistment some students use abbreviations like wat instead of what or, 2day instead of today etc... But its also, good that students text because they become better readers and wriiters...Sometimes, I use abbreviations when i write an assignment but I end up editing it.

ReplyDeleteI think that text language is very useful for students when they are writing to there friends because it can help them example faster. In a way it does have a influence on kids because if we do have an exam that can briing down our grade . I have used this in one of my writings . This made the teacher take off points on my paper. The problem with me is that I got use to the writing that I didn't even notice that I wrote in text Language.
ReplyDeleteI think that texing is good and bad because it is ok for kids to do it on the internet talking to there friends but i think kids are doing it so much that they use does words like LOL or IDK when doing there work which is bad
ReplyDeleteSo the truth of the matter about this topic is that kids, teens, and adults have found a new way to speak easier and faster to there acquaintances. But through these abbreviations, they are threatening the schools. Teachers across the nation are saying that students are using "textism" in there assignments, or in there projects. Teachers had came to thought about this type of "savvy-tech language". They are concerned that students will carry on this way of speaking into their professional lifes and their employers won't take them serious. Students should keep the textism at home and bring there professionism to school.
ReplyDeleteIts fine to use textism, but just not at school.
Stay cool

Well after reading this article, it left me thinking with a couple of things. First of all i think that texting language it's completely fine as long as you know how to spell. Also texting shouldn't be used while a person is doing their homework assigment or business paper. The reason for that is the brain can't do two things at the same time and do them 100%. So if your doing an important paper there is a probality you would use text language. I dont think it has an influence on a students learning because if they know how to spell then everything is fine. But otherwise it would affect because they woill bring text language into their work. I havent used text language in any of my papers because im careful with everything i write.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Natividad & Sierra on the concept of textism because it's not bad, you just can't use it in school.
ReplyDeleteTo me digital etiquette is very important because it shows the way you learned as a child and what you know about technology.Yes I think that this language has an influence on students who are learning. Sometimes students abbreviate in their writing and don’t even relies that they did. Yes I used texting language in a report, after reading it over I realized and changed it.
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of in the middle because even though thier are bad to use for work or bussiness but they need to know when to write things. one is to talk on IM or Email but when it comes to bussiness they have to stop. It dose help understand to speak a little more clear and help you say the sound. But also if you talk to somebody and then if you got mad it will come out a certain way. But if you put it on an email or a profile and they read it they have issues so then it is kind of even a good and bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI strongly belive that IM slang is affecting students progression in writing and reading. Students will think that it is ok for them to write in slang. They have to know that if they ever write that on a college application or job application it will most likley decrease their possibilitys of geting into the college or geting the job offer.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about texting language is that it can be fun at times and can send messages across to others at a raster rate than actually texting/typing every single letter of every single word. Texting Language can influence a students learning because as said in the passage that “ IMing and text messaging among kids might be hurting their written language skills” A time when I used texting language is during a writing assignment, when i got the assignment back after it was graded I realized that I had made the mistake of using abberevations. I wasn’t aware of it until then.
